These days, students are turning to vocational school and more unconventional studies, including zoology and drone production, to pick up practical skills that could help them prepare for their careers early.

This is an agility training session for show dogs... and it's one of the classes available from the Pet Science Department of Seoul Yonhee Technical College, which offers associate degrees in zoology and other veterinary careers.

_어질리티 트레이닝을 위한 훈련 교육과정이 서울연희실용전문학교의 애완동물계열에서 제공하는 수업 중 하나이다. 본 교육기관은 애완동물관리전공 생명산업전문학사 학위를 받을 수 있는 2년제 교육기관이다.

The classroom is filled with people from all walks of life -- from fresh high school graduates... to people seeking second careers -- hoping to fulfill their dream of working with animals. "I applied for this major because I like animals... and I can gain expertise. Plus, there are more people raising pets, so I think the market will expand."

_애완동물 강의실에는 고등학교 졸업자부터 동물관련 경력을 쌓으려는 사람들 - 반려동물과 함께 일하는 꿈을 이루기 위한 학생들이 실습실에 모여 있다. "나는 동물을 좋아하고 전문지식을 쌓고자 애완동물관리전공으로 공부를 시작했고, 애완동물을 기르는 사람들이 많아지고 반려동물시장이 더 확대 될 것으로 생각한다"고 말했다.

For example, one of the Pet Science classes teaches students how to care for rare pets, including reptiles, on their way to becoming zookeepers.

_예를 들어 애완동물학과 수업 중에 하나는 파충류를 비롯한 희귀한 애완동물을 사육하는 방법을 학생들에게 가르쳐 줍니다.

"Before coming to this college, I didn't know much about rare animals. But this major has taught me a lot about them, and I think it's very useful toward helping me become a zookeeper." "I want to open a reptile cafe in the future. It wasn't easy to find or interact with reptiles in Korea because they aren't very popular, but I'm so glad I can learn about them here."
